Originally built in the 1500s on the site of Holbrook Manor in Redenhall, on the outskirts of the historic market town of Harleston in the heart of the Waveney Valley, Gawdy Hall has been home to many distinguished families throughout its history including lawyers, clergy and businessmen.

This book delves back in time to discover the lives of these prominent families and the architectural changes to the Hall and gives an insight into what life was like for both the gentry and the peasants working on the Estate throughout its history.

With a foreword by renowned novelist Louis de Bernières of over 1,000 words, this book covers all aspects of life on a Norfolk country estate. It includes many photographs of this country mansion together with pictures and a detailed account of farming operations during the 1950s.
